Application Process

01

profile

  • Basic Information: Name, date of birth, country of residence, nationality, details of current occupation and contact information.

  • Proof of ID: You will need to upload a copy of the bio-data page of your passport, or a copy of a driver’s license, birth certificate, national identity card, voter registration card or official student identification card.

  • You will have 300 words maximum to tell us about who you are as a person and as an artist. This will be revealed to the Jury should you make the shortlist.

02

competing artwork

  • You are required to upload one original piece that connects to the Prize’s Theme and passes our Entry Requirements. This must be uploaded in digital form, as part of the application form. This work is what each applicant will primarily be judged on.

  • It is advised that the photographs be of at least 5mb size. If you need help with this, please reach out on [INSERT NUMBER]. Artists should indicate their competing artwork for the Prize by saving it as:  ‘firstname_lastname_competingwork’.

  • IMPORTANT: nowhere on the photograph of the works or on the works themselves (until an applicant is Shortlisted), should the applicant’s name and address be visible.

  • You will have 500 words maximum to explain to us how your one competing artwork connects to the Prize’s Theme. How does your work tie to “The Sustain(ability) of Africa”?

03

supporting artwork

  • You will also be required to upload two original pieces completed by you within the past 24 months.

  • These must also be uploaded in digital form.

  • You will not be directly judged on these works so these pieces do not need to connect with the Theme; their purpose is to give the Jury a good indication of your ability and commitment to the arts.

  • The remaining two (2) works must be named as ‘firstname_lastname_additionalwork_1/2’.
